A Plethora of Speckled Woods
Speckled Wood butterfly, Pararge aegeria
At least 8 individuals were encountered on a short walk near Kinghorn Loch, Fife.
Some were very fresh looking while others were very tattered and torn.
A couple of them were observed nectaring on bramble and rosebay willowherb.
From their territorial behaviour, all were presumed to be male.
