... and speaking of stag do's

Firstly, I can't believe I didn't post my photo of Chipping Camden's amazing seventeenth century market hall, yesterday, or mention our drinks at The Swan Inn in Swinbrook, which (kind of) fetishises the Mitford sisters. Honestly, so much going on here!

But back to today and what a splendid day it's been. Breakfast with Ash and E, and then over to Hampton for coffee and Danish with my old and wonderful friends, Keith and Angela. We took a walk around Bushy Park where we saw this wonderful beast, unfazed by the human company. I felt like I was in a slightly less wintry version of 'Northern Exposure'.

Then I tried to take a run in Richmond Park but it was closed for a race, so instead I made an earlier than planned arrival at my folks', where my brother, his wife, and my niece were having lunch with them. I didn't eat as I was still planning to run, which I did after we'd all walked along the new pathway alongside the railway line between New Malden and Raynes Park.

My route took me on a loop around Coombe Lane, where I once had a girlfriend, down Alric Avenue, where my Dad's allotment was, up to Beverley Park and then down past the end of Egerton Road, where my uncle Brian lived, onto Burlington Road past my grandparents' old house, out to Eton Avenue, where I grew up before we went to Hong King, past Green Lane Park, out to Surbiton and Long Ditton, where I had another (but not simultaneous) girlfriend, and then back through Tolworth to my parents' house. Phew.

And after recording the radio show, I took the train into Wimbledon to meet my brother, and our very good friend Nick for a curry. It was an excellent close to a splendid day.
