Kiltwalk
Another kind of day: walking for charity. Our grandsons, having recently moved north, have found a new football home in Spartans, and it was for the club that we walked with the family today in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk. We were on the shortest of the walks, strolling 5 miles from the shores of the Firth into Murrayfield stadium.
Great camaraderie, walkers from babies in pushchairs to people even older than us, some pipers from Oban, a giant squirrel...People stopped to cheers and clap along the way; there was a Portaloo in someone’s garden, cyclists on the old railway track tried to make their way through the crowds (why?)
At the stadium there was excellent food to revive us and a throbbing disco tent. So many charities were represented, , so many people doing something so simple.
And later, back at the house, I took delivery of an icon of St Andrew that I commissioned. A photo tomorrow, I think; for today you have the pink group approaching Murrayfield.
And my feet are killing me ...
