Nae Snow
One of the vagaries of a Scottish winter is the unreliable skiing conditions. Accommodation booked in advance meant we were committed to the journey but Rothiemurchus is still a great area to visit in any conditions.
We walked up to Ryvoan Bothy via the emerald Lochan Uaine. The kids were quite amused by the hungover* men cooking bacon and Lorne sausage on their camping stove inside. I don't think the feeling was reciprocal.
On the return, we took the alternative route through the gnarled Scots Pine and Old Man's Beard lichens. We were afforded a wide balcony view of the patchy ski area, aswell as a Sea-King helicopter which landed at Glenmore Lodge.
*By their own admission, they had had a 'heavy' night.
