Today's the day .......................... for the creature from the dark lagoon

Well - it wasn't really a dark lagoon - it was a garden pond which had been incorporated into a magnificent conservatory room at the house of Diane and David.

Every year around this time, they have a post-Christmas party - and that's where we were when I spotted this little chap. Apparently the pond was full of newts when it was part of the garden - and still is by the look of things. It had obviously just popped out to see how the party was going.

Newts, of course, have a real reputation for knowing how to have good time. It's probably how that well known expression came into being. You know the one - p***** as a ...........................
