Wasp Nest
About a meter off the ground, the nest is about 10 cm (4 inches) long. The few wasps around it did not seem threatening. This is a far cry from birds, I know, but see the extra: a distant pair of snipe, feeding in perfect synchrony. They are most likely Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago), the most widespread snipe in Europe. Our outing today covered several sites nearby and to the south of our hotel on the Bay of Pollensa (Pollença in Catalan, the native language of Mallorca). (The map is marked automatically by the GPS in my camera body.)
