Fine tuning

There seems to be more music-related activity than ever in my life at the moment. Today it was the turn of the piano, and the much-needed visit of our piano tuner (there were notes beginning to sound unpleasant, and we'd realised a tuning was overdue). The piano had belonged originally to my mother, and when it came to us, shortly before she died 14 years ago, the piano tuner came with it - he makes the journey down from Glasgow specially, going, I think, to one other customer in the area. He is quite a bit older than us, and has been tuning this plano since 1998; every time he visits we wonder if it'll be his last.

Apart from that, and Mr PB's rush to become better acquainted with the new organ before tomorrow's service, we managed a great hike up a forest track into the hills between Dunoon and Colintraive. Last time we were there the heavens opened and we were soaked; today it was all sunlight through the trees and wonderful green smells in the still air. The temperature dropped by 3 degrees when the sun went down.

And then I stumbled on the new film about Leonard Cohen and Marianne Ihlen. I should never have stopped buying the Radio Times ...
