Hightstown Victorian
I traveled to New Jersey today to meet with a client today. She is in Pennsylvania & we decided to meet about 1/2 way for each of us, at the Americana Diner. The diner meeting went very well - good conversation, good food, and a waiter who didn't bother us about taking up a booth for 2 hours (I gave him a very nice tip for that).
On my way back to the NJ Turnpike, I stopped to photograph the beautiful Victorian houses in Hightstown. The day was balmy (54F/12C), so it was nice to walk about without my coat (but still wearing gloves to protect my chilly hands). There were only a few of these restored houses and this was the most beautiful of the lot. Unfortunately, the rest of the neighborhood was rather run down, with lots of FOR RENT and FOR SALE signs.
On the way back home, instead of heading over the George Washington Bridge and facing NYC rush hour traffic, I diverted on to the Palisades Parkway. It is a short parkway that runs above the New Jersey Palisades and several lookouts for very interesting views. Even better, the traffic was light and I arrived home in time to play with Bob for a few hours before dinner.
