Homeward Bound

Left Ventnor at 9.15 this morning in brilliant sunshine and set off  northwards for East Cowes and the ferry for Southampton. A brisk breeze but an enjoyable crossing with a lot of marine activity - ferries, cruise ships, drilling rigs and yachts. Here's one of the latter 'lee rail under', to quote Arthur Ransome, with the Royal Victoria Chapel in the background. This was built around 1860 as part of the Royal Victoria Hospital, since demolished. An hour later we were back on dry land and heading for the M3 and back to Hampton.

A short break, but a good one. Tomorrow we set off for a week in Cornwall, but I'll backBlip when we get home on the 13th - I'm fed up with trying to photograph and Blip on a toy phone!

My extra is a picture of one of the wild animals one still sees on the Isle of Wight, having been cut off from mainland Britain for some time!
