On Golden Pond
What a difference 3 days makes. I went back to Huntley Meadows very early this morning, but there wasn't nearly as much activity as earlier in the week. There was a weather change overnight and it finally feels a bit like fall. Many of the Herons and Egrets are gone. I suspect because the drought has halted the flow of water just leaving pools. I think they have depleted all the fish in the last few weeks and have moved on.
For a brief time in the early morning, the sun lights up the fall foliage on the trees and they reflect brilliantly in the water. Hoping for a shot, I waited for some sort of bird to wade through just the right spot. This sandpiper obliged.
The best part of the morning was running into blipper Photomatt. The decreased activity allowed us to have a good catch up.
