Seeing Beyond Looking

Back to everyday living!

Well here we are on the home front going about everyday things. Not that they can't be enjoyable in their own quiet way.

BUT, when I got home, a mini disaster arrived which has been giving me lots of work. My fridge broke down and my freezer was totally full. Everything was developing a 'floppy' and suspicious aspect. I cooked as much as I could, but cannot keep leftovers as the fridge has died. To cut a long story short, a man came to look at the fridge only late Friday afternoon and pronounced it 'without hope or repairs'. So now I have to wait for the office that manages this rented apartment to give the all clear when a new fridge can be delivered.

In the meantime, I'm only buying for one meal at a time and feeling annoyed and sad for all the food which has been wasted.

Today I'm making Potimarron and sweet potato soup flavoured with ginger. The ingredients are sitting on my balcony while I cook up a storm of other things from the freezer.

Potimarron:  the word comes from 'potiron' (pumpkin) and 'marron' (chestnut). It's a very tasty kind of pumpkin/squash with a chestnut flavour.

"Adversity, or necessity, is the mother of invention".
So besides cooking up a storm, I've been giving stuff away and sharing my meals!
