Matlock Bath Illuminations
Lots of differently themed lit up boats parade down the river, this spectacular dragon was our favourite (and the winner of the cup). He moved with each stroke from the rower which was ingeniuos. The festival dates back to 1897 when it was done to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee as she had stayed in the village and been struck by the beauty of candles reflected in the river Derwent.
We stumbled upon an incredibly good Italian restaurant and ate churros whilst watching the fireworks.
