Another day in Arisaig
Woke to the sound of rain putter pattering on the roof but when I ventured outside it wasn’t too heavy. Took our time getting going after Friday’s late finish and planned an afternoon of dominoes but the skies cleared so we headed out fir a walk along the beach. It was busy with people walking their dogs and kids splashing about (rather then than me as it wasn’t too cold but I was glad if my windproof jacket). There were also some people raking for cockles - I think our friend Stuart plans to borrow the rake on Sunday and try to source some for our dinner.
Dinner of a chickpea, chorizo and spinach curry/chilli cross wasseiftly consumed before we headed back to the Astley Hall for the evening entertainment.
Arrived to an almost empty hall but once the band started it soon filled up and an hour of ceilidh dancing passed very quickly. We watched! The band is made up of a fluid mix of members of other bands including the Poitiers, the Peatbog Faeries and Bombskare to name a few.
They were followed by Sharon Shannon (ex Waterboyd) and Alan Connor. They were very good.
A short interval with time to visit the bar (beer provided by the good folks from
Glen Spean brewery based in Lochaber) before Swampfog - a 6 piece horn heavy funk band from Glasgow. Full of energy and another good set. The final act (for us) was Intel - haunting Celtic tunes - and we managed to last the first few songs before calling it a day around 12.45. None of us had the energy for the final act - DJ Dolphin boy but I’m sure the younger crown in evidence would have enjoyed him.
Thank you so much for comments and stars.
