Dutch Courage
This was us having a beer before meeting Frank's daughter 'A' with her new partner. We were a bit nervous as, I'm sure were they.
It came as a shock to us in July when her and our son-in-law split up and we were quite upset because it's a lot for the kids
(9 and 7) to cope with. They have stayed at home with Daddy but Mummy sees them every day as they all live in the same village.
The meet up went quite well I think as we already knew A's new partner well and like her a lot. It's just been a lot to get our heads round, worrying about how they would all deal with it. However, they all seem to be settling in to this new - rather odd - situation, though there obviously are hiccups. The 10 yr old is accepting it all better than the 7 yr old and their Dad is busy doing the house up for a new start.
We just have to try to be neutral and get on with everyone.
Families are not always straighforward and I'm sure we're not the only ones dealing with such issues.
You just never know what's coming next!
