Sadly we left the wonderful Charlie and his mum and dad and headed for Hambye Abbey, less than 10 Kms away. The weather was mild and dry and we had a good walk around the area for an hour and half (John thinks the middle pic is a spindle tree) before going to to look at the Abbey ruins. The abbey was constructed late 12th C, run by Benedictine monks for a time although following the French Revolution became national property.
We headed to Cherbourg for the 18.30 ferry, a horrible 5 hour crossing due to poor weather conditions.
