Winter Comes to Spring Creek Park
We had several significant snows around Christmas that made everything look very wintry out. The cold temperatures we've had since then (10 F, or -12 C on one morning) have preserved the snow.
The weather is to turn warmer later this week and I suspect our snows will melt. So on Tuesday morning, I took the opportunity to swing by a few of my favorite places to photograph the snow.
You may recognize this scene (and bench) from my December 13th blip number 365. The photo was taken in Spring Creek park, not far from the covered bridge I like so well.
It was a cold morning once again, around 17 degrees F (-8 C), and the mist was rising off the creek just as the sun was cresting Mount Nittany and shining its first light into the valley.
Winter has its special delights for photographers. The quality of air seems different when it is very cold and still and dry: steam and light are somehow transformed in the cold, still dawn.
