Iran day 1, Tehran
After a very tiring 8 wait wait in Dubai our flight to Tehran was delayed which meant we didn’t reach the hotel till 27 hours after we’d left home. A quick shower and we were out for a very fast walk in the heavily polluted streets to the carpet museum.
It was gorgeous though obviously the light was low so I couldn’t read the info plaques. On the way back we went via a place where the Israeli embassy used to be. It is now a mosque and they’ve renamed the street Palestine Street. We liked that. We stopped for some freshly squeezed pomegranate juice - sour and delicious. It cost 250000 rials, about $US 2.
We like our guide. He’s very ironic. We thought by arriving early we’d have a rest day but he is going to take us to the Shah’s palace in the morning.
The hotel has given me a code for WiFi and the surprise is it does Facebook and blip. But I’m going to be discreet!
The people are very friendly. Tehran seems quite laid back with the dress code. There are some very stylish women around. I’m not one of them.
