Bike Ride

We traveled to Morelia today with a stop for lunch in Quiroga. While there, enjoying our carnitas torta, we witnessed a large group of bicyclists leaving town. It was clearly a structured ride, there were sag wagons, police escorts, and organization beyond a typical Mexican event. Because they were heading on the back road to Morelia, we switched gears (pun intended) and retraced our route to the main Pátzcuaro-Morelia highway for the drive into town. Once at our hotel, there was even more bicycle activity. Two different groups rode into town (much like in the photo above) and entered the Basilica for a special ceremony just for them.
