Old and abandoned
Went with a friend down to the east of the city in the Spittlefields area to see a delightful exhibition by London artist Eleanor Crow. The little gallery, The Townhouse, is in a lovely old building in Fournier Street where lots of Huguenots settled when they fled persecution in the late 16th early 17th century.
The exhibition was delightful, little paintings of old shop fronts from various parts of London, several of which l recognised. If you are in the area do go and see, it is at 5 Fournier Street.
Afterwards we went over to Mile End Road to another small exhibition but although the art work was good there were only 6 paintings in the derelict church and the artist just sat on his sofa in the corner with an extremely loud radio chat show on. We looked, the inside of the church was interesting, nets up on the ceiling to catch falling masonry, and then we left. An interesting area just off Mile End Road, lovely old houses set in beautiful squares.
