Tones of blue

8.3C feeling colder. No breeze to speak of and wonderful light in mostly clear sky.

There was a power cut this morning. Apparently some overhead line problems somewhere along the main A92 road towards Dundee. Wasn't off for long but there was that moment when everything goes off, and the computer screen goes black.

Maeve the Deerhound and I decided not to walk down the field today. We thought it would be too muddy. We went straight down the road to the shore instead and walked along the cycle path to the level crossing. Before we went down onto the beach I took a few shots of the seascape that lay before us. Everything was calm, and the sun had just gone behind some thin cloud, leaving this wonderful blue on the sea with the paler sky blues fading in their subtle gradient into the horizon.

We spent some more time wandering on the beach as we had missed out on the walk down the field. The tide was going out so there was plenty of good firm damp sand. Plenty of stones and seaweed too. Before we left through the Fishermen's huts area and along by the cottages we saw two other dog walkers, and we said hello to the owner of 'Shamara II' who was putting new rope in some creels on a table he had brought onto the edge of the beach by his creel rack.

Another good day ... and it is noticeably lighter for that little bit longer :-)

Update: Radio Scotland news reported on the Power Cut in the late afternoon saying that a high voltage line had been 'downed'. A dead Swan was found near the line !
