Low Tide at Bosham

Despite the wet weather I decided I couldn't waste the last day of my holiday stuck in the house, so headed down to the south coast near Chichester.

My first port of call was to the Fishbourne Roman Palace, the largest Roman home in Britain.  It was found in the 1960's and is renown for its size - the excavated remains on show easily match many of today's stately homes, and this is only one wing of four - and its mosaics with 1st century floors overlaid with later 2nd and 3rd century ones.  One of the best preserved shows a cupid riding a dolphin (extra).

A few miles away is my favourite location, Bosham, and by now the rain had cleared, and there were even some blue skies and sunshine, tempting me to buy an ice cream in lieu of afternoon tea! 

The sea in this area retreats almost completely at low tide, and today it coincided with the sinking of the sun leaving wonderful views across the creek.
