Pferdeschorschi

St. Andreas, Attenhausen

Still landlocked - no car & no chance of riding, so a walk again. Had heard the mother of a friend in the village had died aged 89 and wanted to see when the funeral & burial was to take place - tomorrow.
On the way to the church passed the morgue and saw how it was used. Visible from the road, the coffin is behind glass doors surrounded by flowers & candles. For interest it would have been a good Blip but somehow felt wrong. The photo is of the 15C church & on the far left the school house. The church spires in this part of Bavaria (Swabia) are very simple in comparison to the eleborate "onion bulb" spires in Upper Bavaria. Not sure if this has to do with the Swabians renowned "frugality". Interestingly in German people who are "tight" with their money are called "Scots" i.e. scottish! In the sales you will see posters with "Schottenpreise" (Scottish Prices i.e. cheap). No idea where this comes from such as the following joke :
How was the Grand Canyon formed? Once upon a time a Scot lost a 50 cent coin!
