Press and pull to open

This made me think about the difference between 'press' and 'push,' as I see doors that have the sign 'push' along with 'pull.' As one dictionary says, 'push' concerns making something move forward or away from you while 'press' simply focuses on exerting physical force on something, which makes sense to me.
