I am unsure of the identification of those toadstools growing in the trunk of an ash tree although they look like new Blushers (Amanita rubescens) or a type of Honey Fungus.  Perhaps someone can tell me.   Those below are very young Common Puffballs (Lycoperdon perlatum) which apparently can be eaten in that state but I would never trust my judgement in identifying any edible toadstools.

Edit  Monkey says he they are probably Spiny Puffballs  (Lycoperdon echinatun)
