Our Lounge
Over the past year or so I have shown some interior views of our restored church; the place where we live, work and play.
Today’s Blipfoto shows what might be termed our lounge, where we entertain our friends and visitors.
The most surprising feature is the ceiling height which is 9 metres to the internal ridge.
Although it is surrounded by other spaces, it actually receives sun light from sunrise to sunset on every day of the year, cloud cover allowing.
When in use as a church, the pulpit, where the minister would preach from stood alone and in isolation.
It was accessed by its own stair. We added an intermediate balcony behind on either side of the pulpit and put in some library space. The glass fronted cupboards were actually recycled from redundant shop fittings; actually a confectioner’s
Beneath the balcony is a corridor where we keep our outdoor clothes and shoes. We call the "rabbit run".
All of the additional new doors are plain blanks with solid cores and in the future we plan to put stain glass and wood patterns.
These touches take inspiration and time.
