Don't Mess With Me!
A quick trip to Powderham late this morning and, as soon as I got out of the car, I could hear the stags bellowing.
When I was last here the stags were quiet and just hanging around, keeping each other company under the trees.
Today, although I didn't see any real fighting, they were harassing each other and roaring a warning to stay away from the groups of females.
I watched this group for a while because they were the closest.
Initially, the stag that is walking off was being very attentive to this group of females - very attentive and I thought I was going to get a suitable image for Bob's Wide Wednesday Challenge entitled 'Straight up'!!!!!
However, when the other roaring dude came on the scene , the first stag just ambled off. I was expecting a clash of antlers at the very least but I guess the hierarchy must have been previously established.
Feeling happy to have seen some action and to be out with the camera today.
Mounted and framed the birthday present this afternoon. Not needed till Friday. Very unlike me to be ahead of myself !
