Ashby Canal

So Autumn is here. The woodburner's been on most of the day, I've a pot of homemade chicken broth on the stove & the evenings are rapidly closing in. I went to close the bow curtains when I realised how beautiful it was outside. This isn't a rural mooring, the A5 runs directly behind the pub, crossing the canal as it leaves town, and even now its traffic thunders past. Yet just go through the bridge & you are back in the farmland & the woods that flank the Ashby for most of its route. It's a beautiful canal
