Vota!
Today is national election day in Mozambique. It’s expected that the incumbent President will win a second term, through varying grades of free and fair depending on whether a province has a lot of opposition support or not. Although it could never reach the heady heights of political showmanship as in the US, the national election is a big deal in Mozambique. I’ve been following the updates which report from around the country on the registration of observers and the set up of polling stations. There are dozens of accounts of the law being breached so we all just have to await the results and trust that the bulk of the votes have been counted transparently and honestly.
It transpires that I’m not able to make a neat omelette.
