Basin Birds

When Ollie dog and I arrived at Heybridge Basin the tide was out and it was quite dull. Towards the end of our walk along the sea wall the sun broke through and the tide was coming in. I spotted a lone curlew probing the mud. Lovely to see (and hear) it as these birds are becoming scarce.

Suddenly all the black-tailed godwits, which were feeding at the water's edge, took to the air. The images, as they wheel, are top left a dorsal view and bottom right ventral. The birds are sporting their winter plumage.

I'm not sure what the small waders are flying between the two boats. I think they might be dunlins. Starlings are flocking around the blue crane. A first for me top right. I've never got two wrens in the same frame before.

I had a coffee at the newly refurbished kiosk and Ollie had two slices of bacon. :)
