Cheetah spotted

By prior agreement, we advanced our wake up time to 4.30 so we could leave by 5 am.
We had a lot to pack in on our last Game Drive at Amakhala and our guide had itchy binoculars. We planned a view of the sunrise on top of a nearby hill before heading to Carnavron Dale across the N2 to search again for the cheetah. We were held up immediately by a trio of giraffes who ambled across the road and stopped to stare at something interesting behind them - that we couldn’t see 4 metres below them. We settled for a sunrise viewed from the plain and the went cheetah hunting. Luckily we had half deaf but eagle eyed Bob with us and he spotted the well camouflaged cat well away from the road at the far edge of the Reserve. Our guide was well pleased to be able to tell the other guides of it’s position as shortly after we spotted it, it ambled into the bushes and would have been impossible to find without prior knowledge.
The rest of our drive was relaxed and interesting with a host of spotting and relaxed chat. We passed the elephant there again and were getting more used to their size so it came as no surprise when one ambled past our breakfast veranda whilst we had our last chats with our guide and fellow guests.
Tony, pour East Cape Tours chauffeur was on hand at 10.30am to transfer us to the airport in Port Elizabeth for our Safair flight to Cape Town. We waited in the arrivals hall having a coffee unsure of when Julia & Josh would be arriving and suddenly they were there. Mother and daughter reunited amidst tears and laughter. The next part of the holiday had officially begun.
We picked up a Mercedes 8 seater for the next part of our travels and Google mapped a route through the busy “Neck” to Camps Bay where J & J had organised a luxury pad overlooking the bay. Just enough time to unpack before we headed to the shoreline for a view of the sunset and some Kingklip fish at the Bungalow Restaurant.

Night spent at 9 Hoopoe Avenue, Camps Bay.
