Almost Gatecrashing

We took Grandma for a drive through the beautiful autumnal landscape so she could see all the multicoloured leaves before they fall off. There are a few favourite drives, and this one took us past the canal and to a beautiful castle, where we usually drive up to the upper parking, I get a little walk and then we turn back.

Only today when we arrived at the castle, a couple of very nicely dressed gentlemen stood at the side of the road and waved us into the parking lot. Together with, it turned out, a large number of wedding guests that were going to attend a party at the castle. Neither of us were dressed for a wedding party, and mum seriously doubted I would have been allowed, so we discreetly went for our walk and then left as if nothing had happened. It would have been fun though!

Mum, who never ceases to surprise me, says she has once attended a real wedding AND a party at this very castle.
