The view from my bedroom window

This is the view from one of my bedroom windows.

I had a pretty busy day today. I started off by visiting the international students office and a few other places on campus. They took my visa information, took my photo and gave me my student ID, I also filled in some medical forms and got recommended I should get a TB test even though I've had a BCG (don't think I will be bothering with that!), and filled out some tax form of some sort.

Went back to halls for a little while and went on the Internet to let everyone know that I had arrived safely. Then got a free shuttle bus off to the Walmart. Got some food as the catered halls don't start until Saturday, an American mobile (or should I say cell?), clothes hangers, some crockery and bedding. The beds here are a special dorm room only size and unfortunately I could only find Polyester sheets - I have been getting electric shocks whenever I get up from bed! (I may have to look online and invest in some cotton sheets).

Whilst I was in Walmart I heard a Scottish voice it turned out to be another Stirling student, Johnny who is here for the semester. He was with Nicoley a student from Wyoming who had in fact been studying in Stirling last semester and a mutual friend had put them in touch. They invited me along to watch the Wyoming Cowboys play basketball against Boise state from Idaho that evening. Admission to all the sports fixtures is included in the fees (which we don't have to pay as we are exchange students) It was great fun although it took me a while to get a gist of what was going on - I still wasn't entirely sure by the end though! We got beaten by a basket scored by the opposition with just 0.1 seconds left on the clock - it was pretty intense!

Some friends of Nicoley had just turned 21 so they were heading out for drinks. I gave it a miss as I am still quite exhausted from the time difference switch. On my way in I met the hall assistant from my floor, Erica and she seemed very nice.
