Isfahan- Sio So Pol Bridge
We drove for 8 hours to reach Isfahan around 4pm. The scenery on the way was mostly flat scrub with some distant hills. There was pizza for lunch at a fast food place.
Our hotel room has a view to the blue mosque, the dome of which is encased with scaffolding. We walked to the river to Soi Se Pol Bridge which was beautifully lit up and full of Iranians strolling and meeting.
We are even more concerned about not getting to see Persepolis as it could be closed for 4 or 5 days at the time we are there. One of the group had contacted Explore in March to raise this with them as she knew then things would be closed for the anniversary of Mohammed’s birth and they said they would rearrange things to make sure we saw everything but they have not done this. The local guide suggests we leave at 2.30 am from here to see it on the last day it is open but the Australians are not wanting to get up early. The rest of us are willing to do what it takes, so we’ll see.
