The Black Cuillin and Mr C
We drove over 100 miles today from the north to the very south east to Elgol. The sun was going to shine on and off and as my foot wasn’t up to much of a walk, we decided there might to a chance of a good blip of the Cuillin Ridge from across the sea loch.
We got some stunning shots, some featuring a rainbow, and enjoyed identifying the peaks we climbed about 20 years ago. Now I’m spoiled for choice and almost picked a pretty one of Blaven. However Mr C thinks he adds something to this so here you are.
From left Sgurr Nan Eag, Sgurr Alasdair, Sgurr Dubh Mor, Sgurr a Ghreadaidh, Bruach na Frithe, Am Bastier (the tooth is visible) and Sgurr Nan Gillean. (The dreaded In Pin is not visible nor are a few other Munros)
When we did the other Cuillin we had one day off due to very bad weather. The guide left us to do Blaven on our own on another occasion. We left it till we were guaranteed a clear day as from the summit the whole ridge can be seen. We went up with brother in law, his son in law, his other daughter and our #2 daughter when we all shared a cottage on Loch Carron for a week of Munro-bagging.
Mr C wanted a bit of wild camping tonight so after picking up a Guardian and a pint of milk at Portree Co-op we headed to the far north of the Trotternich peninsula. There’s a wonderful view of a bog and some jaggy peaks. The sun is out between showers. We are so lucky to be seeing Skye in all weathers. Four seasons in one day!
