Strange things from the sea
It’s amazing how far away a half hr flight can get you, different world here on Phu Quoc after being in Ho Chi Minh, and for that I will be eternally grateful. I keep thinking of all those people that will never be anywhere but that city and all the things they will never even imagine, the taste of fresh air being the main one for me. Maybe it’s ok if you don’t know any different....
Anyway.....got a great place here about a minute from the beach and next door to a restaurant run by Kim from Leeds and Ken from Canada, the most cheerful, friendly people you could hope to encounter. Spent the morning on the beach, the afternoon having a siesta and then headed to the Night market
to check it out. I have never seen such an array of things from the sea, and no clue what most of them are. It is such a beautiful market with no off putting smells, even from the dried seafood stalls? Don’t know how they manage that. Perhaps the delicious aromas from the nut roasting stalls and the coconut candy stalls overpower all else. On the way home I stopped at a fruit stall and bought loads of stuff I have never tried, custard apples, sappdillas, things a bit like a lychee and some rambutans so will enjoy an interesting breakfast before I head off on my boat/snorkelling day visiting some of the islands, very excited .
