Corbridge
Backblip
Onward to Corbridge and the Roman village there. Absolutely excellent - we were there for hours and yes, Lottie was allowed in amongst the ruins and in the museum. Being able to walk on the actual streets, to see how the heating system was constructed, to be able to visualise the city as was, to be free to explore the site at your own pace, is an amazing and fascinating experience. Again, it is well over 40 years since I was last here and so much more has been excavated and discovered since then.
The museum housed everything from domestic utensils and tools to jewellery and armour. The tiniest seals and to the huge lion and lamb statue, see extra. Incredible to be able to see so much of their everyday lives.
Next stop a fellow blipper and his lovely wife, who has a garden full of colour even at this time of the year. We were wined and dined and entertained royally, even Lottie! We got a look in at Port Appin headquarters too! A relaxed evening of chat and photos followed by a good night's sleep. Perfect!
