Access

This is the newly refurbished and reopened bridge at Stirling station which allows access by lift to platforms 9 and 10.

In the early 1990s I worked for the local authority information and advice setup. Part of my role concerned access to buildings and services. In those days there was no lift or ramps at all at Stirling station. With the help of great colleagues from the third sector and other council departments there was a successful campaign to install lifts to the more frequently used platforms. But until recently the platforms further from the station concourse were stubbornly accessible only by a steep footbridge. Absolutely hopeless for anyone with mobility difficulties and tricky for lots of other people. Not to mention against the law. Now there are new lifts and the old footbridge has been refashioned to provide step-free access. It's been a long time coming but here it is.

An early blip from the station as I set off, with Flora, to Edinburgh to catch up with some good pals for coffee and maybe lunch. I'll be walking from Haymarket to Bruntsfield past a favourite spot on the canal and probably walking on the Links at some point but I'm blipping the station, the blue sky and a bit of the Stirling skyline. And you'll note the salt on the bridge. It was frosty last night and is still pretty chilly.

A very good party last night and we were completely spooked by a six month old pumpkin, and seven month old skeleton and a four year old unicorn. We ate well and clearing up was done by everyone but me.
