The last day for Visitors.

Today was the last chance to visit Hill of Tarvit this year. 
The House will open next April, although special events take place during the closed season and are advertised on the web site.

We had an enthusiastic mix of visitors throughout the day. During the day, Claudia, the NTS manager gathered us together to advise that she had received an email from the Chief Executive of the National Trust for Scotland, attaching a hand written letter from the parents of a family who had visited last Tuesday.

She then read out the letter which was exceedingly fulsome in praise for the way the guides had shown them and their young children around the property. To say the praise is "glowing" is something of an understatement, and it certainly filled us all with good cheer.

It is our aim to treat all of our visitors in the same way.

I have attached two extras. One shows the fireplace in the drawing room which holds the French furniture collection.

The second extra shows two Wemyss Ware cats which are displayed in the pantry.

Frederick Sharp did not collect Wemyss Ware. However, the National Trust for Scotland has a collection and after they relocated their headquarters from the New Town of Edinburgh to their current location they moved the collection to Hill of Tarvit.

Wemyss Ware is still produced at a small pottery in the village of Ceres, which is very close to Hill of Tarvit.
