It is Friday
There was something very different about last night and then we realised that it was Ted - because he was not on his drums - he energised audience participation or more precisely his!
Here we have Peter Major on keyboards with incredible facial expressions as he generates his awesome rythm, chords and harmonies. Then the guest Paul Palmer on tenor sax who responded so brilliantly to Pete's call for jazz numbers. And behind, the laid back Laurence Canty with magical bass sound and hiding behind a pillar a brilliant drummer, Peter Boocock.
Ted stepped up to the mike in the interval with a plea for us to be more tolerant of lycra cyclists, quoting a letter from the Westmorland Gazette of someone who had been more threatened by an older driver - "who on walking onto a zebra crossing was promptly side-swiped by an out-of-control estate car driven by a senior citizen swathed in a fur hat the size of a builder's skip that was propped up at the front by a pair of industrial spectacles with lenses carved out of recycled Budweiser bottle"
And I was releived not to have won the raffle - after wining at the last 2 weeks!!
