Poor Pitiful Pooh
Feet that were once torn off by Claudius the dog, a right arm that has paint splotches, one beady eye missing and a shirt filled with holes is poor pitiful Pooh"s description.
He was a Christmas present to my older Brother Peter around 1957. Pete would have been about 3 years old at the time. Evidence shows that he was well loved and played with. At one point in his existence my Grandmother knit him a black pair of shorts, commenting that he need something to cover his behind. They were not well received and has since disappeared. I"m sure it was not what E.H. Shepard had in mind when the illustrations were drafted. They most likely would have hindered his fetching honey from the tree.
Pooh spend many nights in companionship with my brother as did Piglet on a later Christmas. He is still doing his duty but now within my house. Pete sadly died a very young man and Pooh returned to my Parents home upon his death and from there made himself comfortable in my home.
He shows his age. He does not posses batteries or mechanics. One must use imagination for play. So he will wait patiently until the next child that doesn't require hardware to pick him up and find the wonderful life of pooh.
