Tribute to Tarmac
We drove home briskly this morning - heavy rain and flooding was forecast. It was miserable in Edinburgh before we set off, but we managed to outrun it - for a while.
Coming down the hill into Earlston the sun was still catching the colours in the trees, and I took a quick shot from the car.
Later, when I looked at it, I was struck by the perfection of the road surface. How often can you say that? The A68 through our region has been being re-surfaced for months, in sections. Today was the first time in ages that we haven't encountered any temporary traffic lights.
We managed to get back just before the deluge and it hasn't stopped since.
