Sally Mair - Loving life

Smokey Brae?

It's not that long ago that autumn bonfires were everywhere as people burned the fallen leaves, even though Edinburgh has been a smokeless zone for 50 years or more. Nowadays they are fairly unusual sights. This one on Circus Place was covering the whole street with thick smoke at times. But it did smell nice… I remember saying very bad words if a neighbour happened to have a bonfire when my washing was out!
Church this morning where I led our delayed All Souls service. Very moving to hear the lists of names of the congregation's loved ones.
After church Colin drove me into town to offload a couple of pairs of boots into a nearly new shop. Much better to have a little cash in the pocket than unworn boots taking up space. I went into Bon Papillon for a tea and some time to read before going to pick up Eilidh from school and take her to Rainbows.
This evening it was head down until I finally got all the papers printed off for my meetings this weekend and my own report written. I've still one report to write but I think it may have to be done by hand in time for Friday's meeting. I'll maybe have time on the train tomorrow. Fortunately I'm taking the minutes on both days so should be able to sneak it in late without being noticed. Not like me I'm usually well ahead of the deadlines.
Finally got my packing finished at 11pm. Ready for bed.
Steps today 18445 hooray.
