Across the Moor

My Sunday Saturday bike (Sunday is looking pretty bad weather wise) is my usual route. I am taking advantage of the clear conditions and the fact I haven't ridden that much this week. There is a bit of breeze, a vaguely westerly one. I head through Auchendinny to Leadburn, before turning back towards Penicuik to cycle out on the moor road to West Linton. I stop on the road to get my blip, looking over the moor towards the Pentland Hills. I carry on, and through, West Linton. Still wind in my face through Bogsbank, but from Romannobridge to the A72 it is a cross wind.  Only one on the A72 is the light wind offering some assistance.

Over the Meldons Hills, looking good in the autumn sunshine, to Eddleston, then back home from Eddleston, the A703, up the switchbacks on to the Falla Toll road to the Top Gear road. Over Mount Lothian the wind is in my face again, so it is great to head down to Auchendinny, climb up the Brae to the Seafield Moor Road and home.

The ride can be seen at Relive here.

While 50 miles, it is only a morning ride, meaning my partner and I can go down to Newington in the afternoon to visit the charity shops, and get coffee in a nice independent coffee shop.
