Lifeboats
Or, more correctly, in the singular , lifeboat . This rather large one sits in the side of one of the larger offshore supply boats. This one, the Skandia Carrier, even has a big helicopter landing pad high up on the bow of the vessel.
It is berthed today at Clipper Quay, named after the tea clipper ships, like The Cutty Sark, which were built on this site when this part of the docks was rife with ship building yards.
As a matter of interest, in this part of Scotland, the word "sark" also means SHIRT.
