The oldest seat in the house
That carver chair, which is one of a pair, belonged to my grandparents and I suppose they must be over a hundred years old. They have reupholstered at least twice, and given a good French polish.
My mother loved them and in her final years sat in one at the window. With her difficulty in walking the chair was just the right height and the arms made a great lever. The other one became a seat for Hollie (my collie) and she would sit up at the window and watch for me coming home from school.
Now it's Togbe's turn to claim the seat!
