A time for everything

Seat in the sun

Saturday
A cloudy morning gave way to a sunny afternoon, still cool, but warmer than yesterday. Much of the morning was spent on the phone, talking to family in England. First I wanted to check in on my sister, to see how her hand was doing. About 5 weeks ago her dog Wispa gave her a nasty bite - not maliciously, just wanting to get her attention at Agility class, only unfortunately she misjudged her power, and it turned out to be a very deep bite, swelling up alarmingly, and obviously necessitating a visit to Emergency. She had a follow up visit, and they were satisfied with how it was going, but warned her it would take a long time for the swelling and bruising to go down, as there would be a lot of damage to little blood vessels in the hand. It was her right hand of course, so she was forced to become quite adept at doing things left-handed, and has been very frustrated and bored, since there were so many jobs she was wanting to do but couldn’t - particularly in the garden. Anyway, things are finally improving - the swelling has reduced considerably, though it is still bruised, and she is gradually getting use and strength back in her fingers.
Then we called my brother and sister-in-law, who live in Dore to the west of Sheffield, as we had been reading about all the rain and flooding in South Yorkshire and Lancashire, and we wanted to get a bigger picture. Fortunately, we knew they were OK where they live, but apparently my sister-in-law did have to go out Thursday evening, and was driving along flooded roads!
By the time we had caught up on family news, the sun was beginning to break through, so we headed out for a good hike at Rowe Woods, where my Blip was taken.
We were out again this evening at another concert, this time the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, performing the amazing Tchaikovsky Violin concerto with Gil Shaham as soloist, and Stravinsky’s Petroushka - a great program!
