Remembering
One of the nice things about going to a more traditional Anglican church are the formal services like today's Remembrance Service. Nothing quite beats Elgar's Nimrod on the organ, the Last Post played on the bugle and the solemn reading out of names of those from the Parish who never returned from war. Today is always such a poignant day of remembering the tragedy of war and a time to pray for peace. (The new Vicar did a great job too).
It wasn't raining today, instead blue skies and the kind of crispness that makes Autumn OK. Making the most of the weather I dashed straight to Nescliffe for a run around Cliffe. It always feels like such a chore to actually drive somewhere just to run, but it's always worth the effort. I bumped into a friend who had just returned from running the New York Marathon and so my feet were itching as well as running. Cliffe was exactly as I thought it would be, boggy and wonderful with crispy leaves all around and snow-capped mountains to gaze at in the distance.
Vegetable pad thai for dinner and you can all breathe a sigh of relief that it's Monday tomorrow and the food blips will take a break.
