A Surprising Procedure

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

It was The Disciple’s stag do today. I was a little bit stressed before I went - I didn’t know half of the people that were going to be there and the other ‘best man’ had a stomach bug and said he wasn’t coming 3 hours before we were due to meet.

It ended up being a great night. The format was drinks, curry and more drinks. After the curry, we went to Hoot The Redeemer*, a speakeasy with a 1950s New Orleans funfair theme. The bar is quirky and fun with cinema seats and the toilet walls are covered in pages from Fifty Shades of Grey!

Best of all, there was a DJ who played funky tunes. Two of the guys in the group (who hadn’t previously met) realised they had found their brother from another mother as they both knew the song name, artist, year and lyrics of EVERY song that was played. They were hilarious in their excitement and got all of us dancing and singing until the pub closed.

The groom-to-be wanted to go to Fingers so 4 of us headed along but it was just too packed/we weren’t nearly drunk enough to be there, so we had one last drink and called it a night.

The funniest moment of the evening was a word mix up moment at the meal - one of the guys mentioned that his wife had a very long labour with one of their children, “it was 24 hours and after all that, she ended up getting a circumcision.”

I was holding onto my sides laughing for about 5 minutes! It must have come as a bit of a shock to find out she had a penis!
