Leaves everywhere
The oak tree in the front yard has dropped many of its leaves...all brown and dried out. I decided today to get a head start on raking these leaves up so that they will not be so thick and take three times as long to rake.
Raking is something that I sort of like to do. I like the monotony of pulling the rake and hearing the rustle of the leaves. Sometimes the dog decides the leaf piles are something to nose around in so she scatters them around as she romps through them smelling.
Today was so pleasant that I got most of the front yard raked fairly well and the leaves thrown over to pile around the blackberry briars where they will give some shelter to birds and bunnies during the winter. You can see the briar area on the left hand side of the photo behind the last pile of leaves. I also got the backyard raked! So now just the side yard on another day but there were not as many leaves there.
It is still very green here as you can see by the grass. Most of our trees are either turning brown, are still green or just starting to turn yellow. Summer flowers are still blooming in spite of two nights just about freezing. A big difference from the great fall color I saw in the mountains yesterday.
Thanks so much for all the stars and comments on the lake photo yesterday! Hope everyone has a good week this week!!
