Heron hiding
Not a bad day today! I finished off getting the images ready to send to the judge for our next competition, 'Emotions'. Not as popular a subject as some - some members don't do emotions! He will be sending us a taped result, so I was able to send the pictures via WeTransfer, avoiding the need to send a data stick through the post. He likewise will send an audio file the same way. The wonders of science!
I went out to look at a group of pines that had been left after the forest beyond Glencruitten had been felled. My friend wanted to see if it might be possible to get permission to plant some native trees around them, but to her surprise it had already been done. I'm not sure if the site is FCS or private.
On the way we passed a small lochan where a heron was hiding in the branches of a tree, awaiting his lunch. From the photograph it looks as if he's seen against the sky, but it's actually water!
My extra is the beautiful little house called Luachrach, set on the banks of Luachrach Loch, or McKay's Pond as it's known locally. Designed in 1929 by the architect Sir William Lorimer, its current value is approaching £750,000.
